DAERA Review and Why Your Views are Important

Date published: 03 October 2017

The Department of Agriculture Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) are currently undertaking a review of AFBI, as part of the normal periodic review of all public bodies.

The review is examining the role of AFBI, opportunities for AFBI to deliver its role more effectively and efficiently, and is also seeking to identify any new areas of science and technology in which AFBI should play a leading role in the future. The review will also examine whether governance arrangements for the organisation meet recognised principles of good corporate governance. A key aspect of the review involves consultation with industry stakeholders on how AFBI can best meet the science and technology needs of the Northern Ireland and global agri-food industry both currently and in the future.

DAERA wishes to hear views from businesses and organisations who use or interact with AFBI as well as from anyone who has a view on how DAERA meets the science and technology needs of the agri-food industry and wider rural economy. An online questionnaire is available on the DAERA website from today for four weeks.

As valued stakeholders we would encourage you to take this important opportunity to complete the questionnaire, to provide input into the review, and have your voice heard in shaping the future of AFBI and of agri-food science provision in Northern Ireland.

The online questionnaire can be accessed through clicking the LINK HERE.

Evidence provided through the questionnaire will add to the information informing the Review and will influence its direction and conclusions. DAERA are also planning to conduct a series of Focus Group discussions with key stakeholders, based on responses from the questionnaire exercise.
