Latest animal disease surveillance report published

The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute provides an animal disease diagnostic service at its laboratories in Stormont and Omagh, where it undertakes surveillance for notifiable, zoonotic (transmissible to humans) and emerging diseases.

Housed cattle grazing silage

Carcasses are submitted for post mortem examination to identify the causes of disease and death.

Information from this surveillance work is published quarterly, with the report for July to September 2025 now available on this website at the link below

Animal disease surveillance reports: 2025

Cases this quarter include haemonchosis, parasitic pneumonias, Johnes disease in a calf and multiple cases of plant and chemical poisoning.
