AFBI, in conjunction with AgriSearch and CAFRE, will be hosting two “Grazing for Growth” beef farm walks on Wednesday 24th April and 1st May respectively.
“Grazing for Growth” farm walks will be held on the farms of GrassCheck Beef pilot farmers John Egerton (Rosslea, Co. Fermanagh) and Philip Truesdale (Castlewellan, Co. Down) on Wednesday 24th April and 1st May respectively. These are the first in a series of events under theme of “Future Proofing Beef and Sheep Farming” being held over the course of 2019 by AFBI, CAFRE and AgriSearch.
The farm walks will start at 2pm and last 2 hours. A number of topics will be covered including soil management, grass budgeting, paddock grazing and concentrate supplementation at grass. Further details will be announced this week.
In the interests of biosecurity those attending are asked to wear clean clothing not previously worn while in direct contact with their own animals. Outdoor work boots should not be worn. Protective overalls and footwear will be provided.
