AFBI Chief Executive Wins Belfast Telegraph Award

Dr Mayne was presented with the Belfast Telegraph Cup at the Ulster Farmers Union dinner by UFU President Mr Barclay Bell.

Mr Bell said: "Dr Mayne is recognised internationally for his research on grassland and milk production. He has had an expansive career in agriculture and his work has been ground-breaking. "He has held posts including leader of the dairy research programme at the Grassland Research Institute in Devon, Scientific Adviser with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Chief Executive of AFBI."

Dr Mayne said, he was pleased and honoured to receive the award and acknowledged the support he had received over many years from throughout the local agri-food industry.  He also paid tribute to colleagues and staff throughout AFBI for their committment and support to AFBI's vision of advancing the local and global agri-food sector through scientific excellence.
