Methane

Areas of Expertise: Environmental Protection
Service: Research & Development

AFBI's ruminant nutrition research includes improving efficiencies of utilisation of energy and nitrogen, reducing enteric methane emissions and modelling relationships between nutrient input and output.

Our research activities are to understand the mechanisms underpinning the efficient conversion of nutrients to quality animal products with objectives to improve animal production efficiency and to reduce environmental footprint (enteric methane emission and manure nitrogen excretion) of cattle and sheep production.
