European Commission Legislation

  • EC Regulation No 852/2004: General rules for food business operators on hygiene of foodstuffs.

  • EC Regulation No 853/2004: Requirements and responsibilities of Food Business Operators, laying down specific hygiene rules for food of animal origin. Annex III, Section IX is dedicated to raw milk and dairy products.

  • EC Regulation No 854/2004: Requirements and responsibilities of Competent Authorities, laying down specific rules for the organisation of official controls on products of animal origin intended for human consumption.

  • EC Regulation No 882/2004: Requirements for official control laboratories and designation and responsibilities of reference laboratories to ensure the verification of compliance with feed and food law and animal health welfare rules.

  • EC Regulation No 2073/2005: Requirements on microbiological criteria for foodstuffs.

  • EC Regulation No 1441/2007: Amending Regulation 2073/2005 on microbiological criteria for foodstuffs with regards to milk and dairy products.

  • EC Regulation No 1664/2006: Amending Regulation 2074/2005 with regards to measures for certain products of animal origin intended for human consumption, in particular the testing for raw and heat-treated milk.
