AFBI science makes a significant contribution to Northern Ireland’s long term economic and environmental sustainability, through enhancing the health of our terrestrial and marine environments, leading improvements in our agri-food systems, helping protect animal and plant health, and ensuring the safety of the food that we eat.
The featured projects within these documents demonstrate how AFBI research supports sustainable and profitable agri-food production, delivered in harmony with a clean, healthy, and diverse environment.
Examples are also presented outlining how AFBI’s science is helping address significant global challenges which affect all of us such as climate change, food security, disease emergence and the growing threat from antimicrobial resistance.
