Biography
Dr Elias Mulugeta is an Environmental Economist and has more than 15 years of experience in economic research in the area of food, agriculture and environment and their relationship. Dr Elias joined AFBI in August 2014 as an Agricultural Economist. He is responsible first for environmental modelling and then transferred to system modelling in 2020. He had worked previously at the International Livestock research Institute (ILRI) as a researcher and at Queen's University as a post-doc research fellow to value ecosystem services provided by peatland habitats. His research interest include valuation of non-market public goods, using choice Modelling and contingent valuation methods and GHG emission. He has applied econometrics and qualitative techniques on diverse environmental goods such as woodlands, biodiversity and recreation. He is also interested in environmental efficiency and profitability analysis. His main interest area is valuation of ecosystem services and economics of grassland management.
