The Marine Fisheries group within AFBI carries out annual stock assessments on the commercially exploited fish species in the Irish Sea.

Stock assessment

This work is undertaken in order to provide management advice to the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) and to fulfil reporting requirements of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) and the European Commission.
