Project: To develop robust visible and near infrared calibrations for assessing fibre and yarn quality

Project Objectives

Existing visible and near infrared (Vis-NIR) calibrations from the previous Project 9719 need to be strengthened with additional samples sets to improve prediction accuracy. The objective of the current proposal is to extend the database on key quality parameters to develop robust NIR calibrations. Fibre and yarn samples will be assessed by instrumental, chemical and physical techniques. The changes in fibre structure and surface characteristics during mechanical and chemical processing will be assessed using the new SEM-X-ray analyser.
