The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) will again have a stand at this year’s Royal Ulster Agricultural Society’s Winter Fair. Take the opportunity to speak to scientists from AFBI sites across Northern Ireland about current research in the agri-food sector.
The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) will again be at the National Ploughing Championships in Athy this year, alongside the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD).
Teagasc and AFBI are jointly organising the 17th International Nitrogen Workshop in the Wexford Opera House from 26 to 29 June, 2012.

AFBI attended the annual Native Invertebrate Day at Belfast Zoo on Thursday 21 July. AFBI staff manned a stand with a collection of live insects, molluscs and other soil invertebrates.

Research to underpin low carbon beef production is the theme of a new research and development programme to be featured at suckler beef farm walks on 3 May (Robert & Sam Chesney, Kircubbin), 4 May (Patrick & Ciaran Kearney, Omagh) and 5 May (Tom Moorhead, Broughshane). This new DARD Research Challenge Fund programme is funded by AgriSearch and DARD and is well on the way to providing new tools and information on which to base future systems.
