Project: The identification, status and potential damage of root-knot nematodes Meloidogyne spp. in Northern Ireland

Objectives
- to undertake pest risk analysis on Meloidogyne chitwoodi, M. fallax & M. minor
- to provide and educate Inspectorate staff within Quality Assurance Division with up-to-date and locally relevant information on symptomology in local host crops (potatoes, carrots, crucifers, grass, maize etc.)
- to determine the present status of these species in Northern Ireland and to provide supporting information for any future application for Protected Zone status.
- to ensure that DAERA has in place protocol for dealing with any potential root knot nematode outbreak.
